Change of plans

I don't feel we are ready for this test. Part of it is due to the complexity of the material, and part of it due to the lack of effort on the student side. I want to give as many opportunities for success, so rather than taking the test today, we will take a group test. This test will be identical to individual test. The individual test will be next Friday, Oct. 14th. This Friday we will go over the group test and get solutions. These will act as your study guide.
I know this is a week later, but I want everyone to have enough time to study and get questions answered. We will continue with the next chapter in class, and our warm-ups will keep some concepts fresh.
Remember, you can get extra points for posting comments. I'm providing opportunities, you need to take advantage of them.

You will only get out as much as you put in.

Here is the practice test if you were absent.

I believe that it is harder working in a group of 5 people because half of the group has no idea what to do, and the other 2 people can't decide whose answer is correct. You waste more time arguing and helping the group than getting any work done.

I don't know about the arguing, but I would think helping others helps you, too. You understand 90% of what you teach someone else. And deciding who's right is a great way to check your work.
We will keep working on it.

I didn't have a very nice situation either with my group. I asked for help and none of them helped me. I know I wasn't the brightest one in my group, but hey, I needed help understanding and I'm assuming that that is why we were in groups, to get our problems solved. They all just went ahead and didn't bother to help (when I asked), so I was pretty much doing the test on my own. I wish I would of got into a group that would of helped me out a little bit. Maybe partners could of been better.

Sorry Mr. Fjelstrom, double post.

I'm sorry your group didn't help. We are in groups to help each other. We will have to work on that.
